2010 Tour ANGLET France - CALELLA, COSTA BRAVA
After months of planning what promised to be the best one to date an accident days before departure saw a end to that. Departed Dublin on May 12 th. with a badly damaged big toe, I hoped that with a major reconstruction of the right shoe and a big supply of antibiotics, dressings and pain killers a few days easy cycling and all would be well. Day 1. Anglet to Oloran Sant. Marie 100 K went well despite the cold, alas the rain and signpost at 80K said 35 to go to Oloran I stopped short in Sauvignon de Bearn. Planned crossing into Spain the following day via Somport Pass. Alas throbbing foot and fears of infection opted for Hospital instead. Diagnoses, no infection only badly crushed big toe and xrays showed 4 of 5 toes fractured. Docs advised against crossing Pyrenees instead rest up for a few days and stay on flat french route to Perpingham then along Spanish Costa Brava. After 3 days pampering and great food provided by my wonderful hosts Baudouin, Helene and Germaine took train to Touluse and the Medi Canal,
